A digital jukebox for restaurants, coffee shops, or venues of any kind. Owners download the app, link their Spotify account, and allow visitors to vote on what’s next in the music queue from a web app.
Damn, this is cool.
– Spotify representative, during our live demo
MusicQ was an app born from CS class with my friends Lily Craver and Kaleb Matherne. We were tired of being subject to cafes’ bad taste in music. Why not bring back the jukebox?
Client: Hobby Project
Launch Date: April 2017
Project Type: iOS and Web App
Services: Branding, Design, and Development
Lily, Kaleb, and I worked together to name and brand MusicQ. We chose orange as our main color, inspired by how Google Play Music stands out amongst the streaming crowd.
UI / UX Design
I designed the MusicQ app to be instantly familiar. The main feature was a collaborative playlist, so I emulated how playlists are managed in iTunes and Spotify.
I built MusicQ off of the Spotify SDK with Swift, allowing a cafe, bar or restaurant to play their existing Spotify playlists with minimal configuration.
